Art Alva

Manufacturing Manager

Art Alva joined the Electrocube team in 2012. But his fascination with electronics spans more than three decades. It’s earned him an associate’s degree and multiple certifications in electronics. Art first joined the electrical components manufacturer as the Manufacturing Engineer. In three short years, he was promoted to Manufacturing Manager.

“Grappling with the details and intricacies of this position is very rewarding,” says Art of his management role. “I get to work with a very dedicated and experienced production team and, together, we are constantly seeking new and better ways of doing things.”

Art and his team ensure that electric component orders are efficiently produced to customer specification and Electrocube’s quality standards for on-time delivery. What does he like best about his position? “… Working with customers to help problem-solve and satisfy their custom and special requirements.“ Prior to Electrocube, Art worked at Streamline Avionics as a manufacturing engineer for 12 years.

Ask him about a unique custom order he’s fulfilled and he’ll quickly tell you about “working out all the bugs” to create wax parts for retro electronic audio capacitors to obtain vintage sound for an iconic brand of electric guitars. In fact, he made the proprietary parts. It’s easy to see why making electronics for classic sound is fun for Art. Classic rock is what’s generally playing on the car radio, and he and his wife are avid concertgoers to hear iconic music legends like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul McCartney.

Two schnauzers – Chewey and Chloe – complete the Alva family. In their spare time, the entire family goes fishing and beachcombing along California’s central coast from Pismo Beach to Big Sur to Monterey. Date night often includes a movie. “I really enjoy the Star Wars movie series. I especially like the Han Solo character. Seeing him return in The Force Awakens was really great. The imagination, action and characters make those movies a lot of fun.”

Of his work at Electrocube, Art says, “I’m proud of the great job that my team does with capacitor manufacturing. I get a good feeling of satisfaction when a customer needs our help to get out of a jam, and I’m able to arrange and manage production to accommodate their need and solve their problem.” That’s a combination of imagination and action worthy of Han Solo.
